A creator subscription is a paid monthly subscription to a specific creator on Vocal. When you subscribe, you unlock that creator's Exclusive Stories - premium content published only for paying subscribers.

Visit a Vocal+ creator's author page or open a preview of one of their exclusive stories
Choose to start a paid subscription
Complete payment through Stripe
Read their full exclusive catalog, get notified when they publish new exclusive stories, and join subscriber-only comments
Free follow vs. paid subscription
Free subscribe (the Subscribe button on a profile or in a story) only means you follow that creator and get notified when they publish public stories. It costs nothing.
Paid subscription is separate. It unlocks Exclusive Stories behind the paywall on that creator's author page.
You can follow a creator for free without paying, and you can pay to subscribe without necessarily using the free follow button - they're independent.
Who can offer subscriptions
Only Vocal+ creators with a connected Stripe account can publish Exclusive Stories and accept paid subscriptions.
Canceling

One-time support
If you want to support a creator once instead of monthly, use a tip on their story or profile. Tips are one-time payments, not subscriptions.
