Exclusive Stories are premium stories that Vocal+ creators publish for paid subscribers. Readers pay a monthly subscription to access a creator's exclusive content on their author page.

This replaced Vocal's older recurring-support feature. Today, paid support on Vocal means subscribing to a creator's exclusive content.

How exclusive stories differ from free stories

Published to your author page - not submitted to a community

Paid subscribers only - readers see a preview until they subscribe

No word count minimum - write as much or as little as the piece needs

Publish instantly to subscribers - no moderation queue wait (content is still reviewed for <a href="https://vocal.media/resources/community-guidelines" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Community Guidelines</a>)

Exclusive Stories are enabled by default in your <a href="https://vocal.media/settings" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Settings</a>. You can turn them off anytime. If you disable Exclusive Stories or cancel Vocal+, your paid subscribers lose access to your exclusive content and you stop earning from those subscriptions.

Write your story in the editor as usual. When you publish, choose Exclusive Story instead of a standard community submission. The story goes live on your author page for paid subscribers right away.

Track free and paid subscribers in your Stats. Subscription earnings show up in your <a href="https://vocal.media/wallet" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Wallet</a>. You'll get an activity notification when someone new subscribes.

Readers can start a paid subscription from your author page or from within an exclusive story preview. Once subscribed, they get full access to your exclusive content, notifications when you publish new exclusive stories, and the ability to comment (visible only to you and other subscribers).

Subscribing for free (the Subscribe button on profiles and in stories) means follow notifications for public stories - no payment.
