Canceling Vocal+ doesn't affect your stories. Everything you've published stays live, stays searchable, and continues to belong to you.
Here's a clear breakdown of what changes and what stays the same:

Your author profile stays public
Your Wallet balance remains intact - any earnings already there can still be withdrawn
You can still earn from tips (at the free account rate)

You can still enter free Challenges
What changes when you drop to a free account
Read earnings stop. Read-based earnings are exclusive to Vocal+. Once your membership ends, you stop earning from reads. Your stories keep getting read - you just won't earn from them until you upgrade again.
Exclusive Stories stop. If you were offering paid subscriptions, subscribers lose access when your Vocal+ membership ends and you stop earning from those subscriptions. You can offer Exclusive Stories again if you rejoin Vocal+.
Tip fee increases. Tips you receive will have the 7% free account processing fee applied, instead of the 2.9% Vocal+ rate.
Withdrawal minimum goes back to $35. The lower $20 withdrawal threshold is a Vocal+ benefit. After canceling, you'll need $35 in your Wallet to request a withdrawal.
Exclusive Challenges are no longer accessible. Vocal+-only Challenges and Weekly Challenges won't be available on a free account.
What about my existing Wallet balance?
Any earnings already in your Wallet before you cancel are yours. You can withdraw them at any time, as long as you hit the minimum balance. Canceling Vocal+ doesn't forfeit anything already earned.
If you want to cancel
Go to your Settings page, find the Vocal+ section, click Manage Vocal+, then Cancel plan. Your membership stays active through the end of your current billing period.
