I can't submit my story.

If the Submit button isn't available, something is missing or not yet set up. Here's how to find what's blocking you.

Written by Vocal Team

If the Submit button isn't showing up or isn't clickable, one of the following is missing:

You haven't connected Stripe yet

Stripe is required to publish on Vocal. It's how you receive tips and earnings, and we require it before any story goes live. This is a one-time setup.

Head to your Wallet and follow the prompts to connect Stripe. You'll choose between Express (recommended for most people) and Standard (for creators who already manage a Stripe business account). The process takes about three minutes.

Once Stripe is connected, go back to your story and the Submit button should be available.

Your story is missing required fields

Every story needs all of the following before it can be submitted:

  • Title - required, can't be blank

  • Subtitle - required, a brief description shown in previews and search results

  • Featured image or video - the visual that appears at the top of your story and in community listings

  • Written content - at least the minimum word count required for the content type (stories and poetry have different minimums)

Check each of these in your draft. If any field is empty or below the minimum, the Submit button stays locked until it's filled.

Your draft hasn't saved yet

After making your last change, give the editor a moment to auto-save before trying to submit. You should see a save confirmation before the Submit button is clickable.

Still not working

If everything looks complete and the button still isn't available, open the Messenger on Vocal or the Help Center and submit a ticket with your story title and account email. We'll take a look.
