Stripe is how all earnings move on Vocal - tips, read payments, bonuses, and creator subscription earnings all flow through your connected Stripe account into your bank. It's required before you can publish any story, so it's worth doing right after you create your account.
How to connect
Go to your Wallet
Click the button to connect Stripe
Choose your account type (see below)
Follow the prompts to enter your information and verify your account
The whole process takes about five minutes.
Stripe Express vs. Stripe Standard
You'll be asked to choose between two Stripe account types:
Stripe Express - the recommended option for most creators. Express is simpler to set up and is designed specifically for platforms like Vocal. You manage your payouts through a streamlined dashboard, and Stripe handles most of the compliance work for you.
Stripe Standard - for creators who already have an existing Stripe business account they want to connect. Standard gives you full access to the Stripe dashboard but requires more setup.
If you're not sure which to choose, pick Express.
What information you'll need
Stripe will ask for:
Your full legal name
Your date of birth
Your home address
Your bank account details (account number and routing number, or IBAN for non-US creators)
A Social Security Number (US) or equivalent government ID number for tax compliance
This information stays with Stripe and is subject to their privacy and security standards.
After connecting
Once Stripe is connected, you'll see a confirmation in your Wallet. You're now cleared to publish stories and receive earnings. If anything looks off, open the Messenger on Vocal or the Help Center and submit a ticket. Our team replies by email, not live chat, and we'll help you sort it out.
If you're in India
Stripe Express is not available in India. Indian creators can connect a Stripe Standard account. See our article on Stripe in India for details.
